Typical applications

  • Driving bare motors and gimbal motors
  • Bench testing and tuning joint modules
  • Wiring a robot's CAN bus
  • Power distribution and emergency stop

Choosing the right one

  • A driver board must match the motor's size and current; check the maker's pairing for the motor you have.
  • FOC drivers with an encoder input give smooth low-speed torque; check that the driver speaks the bus your controller uses (CAN, RS485).
  • One USB-to-CAN adapter is enough to configure and test a joint from a PC; a multi-channel hub runs several CAN buses at once.
  • Terminate each end of a CAN bus with 120 Ω; the adapters here have a switch for it.
  • Regenerated energy from braking joints raises the bus voltage; a bleeder module protects the supply on fast-moving robots.
