A robot hand is either bought complete or built from small linear actuators driving each finger. Here is where to find both.
Complete hands and grippers
- Dexterous hands with several active degrees of freedom, some with tactile sensing.
- Electric grippers for simple, repeatable grasps.
- Financing is available on hands and larger orders: net terms or monthly payments.
Building your own
- Inline micro servos are long and slim, for fingers with room along their length.
- Side-motor micro servos are shorter, for tight palms and wrists.
- Brushless micro servos for higher duty cycles and longer life.
Sizing
Work out fingertip force, lever ratio and stroke in Choosing a micro linear servo actuator, and pick feedback in Encoders for robot joints.
